Laos - Lonely Fisherman on Mekong Rive in Vientiane at the Sunset
Vientiane (Lao ວຽງຈັນ Viang-chan), capital of Laos is Asia's biggest village. Busy and hectic in comparison to the rest of the country, it is quiet compared with any other city in Asia. Vientiane, as all of Lao's major cities, is situated on the Mekong River which forms the lifeline of the country. Vientiane is the hub for all travel in the country. The estimated population of the city is 200,000 (2005) while the number of people living in the Vientiane metropolitan area is believed to be over 730,000. This delightfully friendly capital, studded with crumbling French mansions, bougainvillea-blooming streets and steaming noodle stalls, is somewhere between a big town and a diminutive city. Vientiane is a city full of surprises. Here you can find fields of rice and vegetables, agriculture hidden behind tree lined avenues. French Colonial architecture sits next to gilded temples. Freshly baked French bread is served next to shops selling noodle soup.

The Mekong River is one of the world’s major rivers. It is the 12th-longest river in the world, and 7th longest in Asia. (discharging 475 km3/114 cu mi of water annually). Its estimated length is 4,350 km (2,703 mi), and it drains an area of 795,000 km2. From the Tibetan Plateau it runs through China's Yunnan province, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

This photo is combination of "thoughtful preparation meets pure chance". I was taking sunset photos of those boats, tripod already set up and I took one or two photos of this composition. Shortly after that came these fisherman and started to leave the "port". Their move created great feeling of movement due to longer exposure while the middle boat stayed still. I'm really glad how it ended up.
